Worship & Creative Arts Pastor

Work description

As Member of the Church Staff He/she will Serve and lead in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and submission to the church leadership. Collaborate with Senior Pastor and programming team on a weekly basis to plan worship services, themes and special events and schedule these online using an appropriate program. Assist in providing pastoral care to the congregation, particularly those in the creative arts. Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor. As Leader of the Creative Arts Ministry He/ she will Recruit, develop and lead the programming, music (instrumentalists and vocalists) and where possible, oversee the technical arts, visual arts, drama and dance teams. Co-ordinate/ lead weekly worship services, oversee other creative art ministries, e.g. drama, dance, etc. Lead, equip, develop and evaluate all volunteers in the creative arts ministry. Shepherd and pastor worship team members. Coordinate special services as and when required

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a heart for God and a passionate desire to connect people to God through the creative arts, such as music, dance, drama, multi-media and visual arts. The incumbent must be a strong leader, energetic and friendly, with a contagious love for God, people and the creative arts. The incumbent must have the necessary experience, passion and vision for preparing worship services of both a contemporary and traditional nature and provide effective leadership to our worship and creative arts ministry. He/she must preferably be a pianist/keyboard player who is able to read sheet music with good vocals, although this is not a prerequisite. He/she must be able to effectively lead the different worship teams comprising vocalists, instrumentalists, audio-visual and lighting engineers. A good understanding of both sound and lighting would be a plus. Any experience with some of the other creative arts like dance, drama, multi-media and visual arts would be very beneficial. This position requires the proven ability to recruit, train, develop and lead volunteer staff. He/she must first be a worshipper before being a leader of worship. However, he/she must be able to lead the congregation into a place of authentic worship and not merely stage a performance. He/she must be a team player. Accountability, self-motivation and initiative are vital attributes.
